چکیده

Introduction Thermodynamic non-ideality can lead to serious problems in terms of the analysis of macromolecular behaviour in solution, particularly in molar mass and mass action measurements based on the principles of thermodynamic equilibrium. The term ‘molar mass’ (in g/mol) favoured by the physical chemist is of course equivalent to the molecular mass in daltons, and by ‘mass action’ we mean interaction phenomena, whether they be self-association or so-called heterologous associations between different molecular species. By the phrase, ‘those procedures for examining these phenomena based on thermodynamic equilibrium’ we mean osmotic pressure, static light scattering and also sedimentation equilibrium in the ultracentrifuge.

Investigating the Effects of Mass Transfer and Mixture Non-Ideality on Multiphase Flow Hydrodynamics Using CFD Methods

A numerical framework has been proposed to model the interacting effects of mixture non-ideality and mass transfer on hydrodynamics of a multiphase system using CFD methods.Mass transfer during condensation and vaporization is modeled by chemical potential at the liquid-vapor interface. Species mass transfers are related to the diffusion at the interface which in turn is related to the conc...

Thermodynamics of Non-Ideality and Ion-Association in Saturated Aqueous Solution of Barium Nitrate at 25° C

Using Solvent Evaporating and Atomic Emission Spectrophotometric methods, the solubility of Ba (NO3 )2 inwater at 25.0 ° C was determined. Activity coefficients, f+ and f_ of Bat) and N0i(aq) ions in the saturatedsolution at 25.0 ° C were estimated upon the extended Debye —Hiickel theory and then, the constantK'sp =[Ba2+1f+ [NO-3 ]2 f 2 was evaluated. Analysis of thermodynamic non-ideality in terms of protein solvation.

The effects of thermodynamic non-ideality on the forms of sedimentation equilibrium distributions for several isoelectric proteins have been analysed on the statistical-mechanical basis of excluded volume to obtain an estimate of the extent of protein solvation. Values of the effective solvation parameter delta are reported for ellipsoidal as well as spherical models of the proteins, taken to b...

The Solubility of Potassium Sulfate in Thermodynamic view

The solubility of K2SO4 in water at 25°C was determined. Comparing the value ofthermodynamic solubility product constant, Ksp(th), (Ksp(th) = exp (-ΔGodiss RT) of the mentionedsalt to the value of concentration solubility product, Ksp(c) which is obtained from the observedsolubility, s/moL-1, Ksp(c) = 4s3, revealed a great difference. The difference can be satisfactorilyexplained using Debye- H...
